Mr. Hines has a broad background in Security Consulting and Security Management.  In addition to his security-specific skills, he has excellent business, financial and security-related legal experience, providing a well-rounded approach to client needs.

With over 25 years in the security industry, Mr. Hines’ experience includes systems design & integration, security consulting, high-tech product development, and manufacturing & distribution. Mr. Hines is a Board Certified Security Consultant who holds both CPP (Certified Protection Professional) and PSP (Physical Security Professional) designations.  He is also an accomplished Security Technologist and holds multiple security-related patents and patents-pending.  His first patent search was executed at the age of 14, with his first patent issued at age 24.  His personal technical expertise includes an emphasis on wireless & GPS technologies and security information applications & sourcing.

Mr. Hines’ background makes him uniquely qualified to address a client’s security consulting requirements and provide solutions to a variety of physical security challenges.  He began his career in the systems integration arena, spent a number of years with a major industry manufacturer, and has over five years in a strict consulting role. His consulting expertise includes design, development and management of technical security systems and a demonstrated ability to manage security programs for multiple-sized projects.

Mr. Hines has been involved with projects incorporating a wide range of security programs: from security assessments and vulnerability analyses to security technology design & project management to security policy & procedure and force protection design.

As a security industry expert, Mr. Hines has delivered security programs that best match a client’s needs. During his career, his expertise has been applied to a wide range of projects in both the private and public sectors, including multi-tenant office buildings, law enforcement and military sites, state and federal governments, healthcare facilities, schools and universities, and numerous commercial and industrial applications.

Mr. Hines co-founded and is the past President of the Michigan Homeland Security Consortium, that state’s homeland security trade group.  He is/has been involved in numerous security industry organizations, ranging from ASIS International to Crime Stoppers to the Security Industry Association (SIA). He has also served on a number of business and entrepreneurial organizations, including the Small Business Association of Michigan (SBAM), the Annual Collaboration for Entrepreneurs (ACE), the Chicago Software Association, and others. 

As part of SecureMatrix’ forward-looking approach, Mr. Hines developed the firm’s Sustainable Security Initiative™, a program created to design a client’s security through The Lens of Sustainability™.  He is steeped in sustainability and LEED^® issues and is working toward his LEED^® designation.

He is a frequent speaker and university guest lecturer on topics ranging from security technology, homeland security and entrepreneurial issues.
